Giggleswick is a tranquil village which is located on the banks of the River Ribble close to the bustling town of Settle. The village boasts splendid views of the mountains of Pen-y-Ghent and Ingleborough with Giggleswick Scar also close by.

Buildings in the village are an interesting mix of 17th Century colour washed fronts, an array of mullioned windows, a ‘Tithe Barn' and the historic village stocks.

There is a 15th century church which stands alongside the ancient market cross. The church is known as St Alkelda's Church, who was thought to be an Anglo-Saxon princess killed by the Danes in the 12th century. Inside the church is a monument to Dr George Birkbeck, who resided in the village and founded the Institution of Mechanical Engineers.

With its own train station, Giggleswick is easy to reach on the lines running to and from Leeds, Lancaster and Morecambe.

The village has many delightful self-catering cottages and guest houses.
